Geography
On CAOD sites you will see five marks: Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Moldova, and the European Union.
Tidalux Ltd is a UK company. We are based here, and we work in the UK and Ireland. The marks are the places behind the names, the mail, and the servers. We draw them small and keep them still. They are context, not badges.
Switzerland, with Liechtenstein beside it, is the public names: .ch and .li. The Swiss registry does not publish the holder. Tidalux keeps its own mail and private files in Switzerland, on Proton.
United Kingdom is home. The company is registered here, we are based here, and we work here.
Ireland is home ground as well. It is a base, and where our .ie names belong.
Moldova is a base.
European Union is a base. The main cloud is in Gravelines, on the north coast of France, close enough to Britain that the hop is small. CAOD's own mail is kept in Germany, on Tuta.
Websites
WordPress and ordinary client sites run from Kao Data in Harlow, just outside London. The hall runs on renewable power, and it is built so it can be looked after without taking the building down. Websites, databases, and email sit on separate platforms, so a busy inbox does not slow a site. If a site gets a rush of visitors, the work can move across the pool of machines instead of sticking to one box.
The same kind of hosting also has a hall in Dallas, Texas, and one in Singapore.
The main cloud
CAOD's own public sites run from Gravelines, a coastal campus on the north coast of France. Power there comes from nuclear. The machines are water-cooled. It is about as close to the UK as mainland western Europe gets.
Mail does not run on that server. Home machines are not on the public internet.
Further out
A few small private servers sit in Oregon. Some jobs run on Google Cloud or Amazon, in a region near the people using them.
